About:	Professional Registration:  New York State Mechanical Engineer Stephen is a commissioning expert with over 30 years’ experience in the engineering, construction, commissioning, operation, and maintenance of buildings and systems. He brings both a deep engineering understanding and a hands-on perspective to diagnosing problems and optimizing buildings. Stephen’s experience includes dozens of new construction and renovation projects, variously as contractor, engineer, and owner; he has conducted indoor air quality and energy surveys in hundreds of existing buildings. Stephen uses his extensive experience with high performance design testing and balancing, energy efficient equipment design, control strategy optimization, and life cycle costing to assist project owners in meeting their project specific design goals. As a LEED Accredited Professional, Stephen Turner has worked on dozens of projects that successfully achieved LEED certification. Early experience included mechanical contracting in New York City and on ships and tankers in shipyards around the country, followed by corporate energy management for a nation-wide retail chain. In the early 1990’s, he administered the State of Florida’s energy programs in six counties. In the late 1990’s, he performed IAQ investigations and provided IAQ remediation management services to Fortune 500 and government agencies. Stephen worked at Brown University from 2000 to 2005 and was the commissioning coordinator for all major capital projects including the 170,000 square foot life sciences project, Sidney Frank Hall. He also developed their campus-wide commissioning program, site utilities master plan, and campus metering plan. He subsequently joined a large nationwide commissioning practice in 2005 and led commissioning teams on large complex projects nation-wide prior to starting Stephen Turner Inc. in Providence in 2009.
