A summer-winter system is a two-pipe system with one coil in each terminal unit to accomplish both the heating and cooling requirements of the space. Chilled water is supplied in the summer and hot water in the winter to each terminal unit through summer-winter changeover valves (automatic or manual), the changeover valve is normally located at the primary chilled and hot water heat exchanger equipment. This system is an economical system used in hotels, apartments and other installations where seasonal control is satisfactory.
