BMS (Building Management System) or EMS (Energy Management System) are an automation systems for control of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems.

HVAC system is almost always controlled, including control of its various pieces of equipment such as Chillers, Boilers, Heat Pumps, Air Handling Units, Split systems, VAV system and all other mechanical equipment in heating, ventilation, air conditioning and cooling systems.

In Electrical, Power monitoring and lighting control are a major systems for optimizing building performance.

In Plumbing, the automation system controls Water Heater system, pumps and monitors water & gas sub-meters.

Also Security, Close circuit video, Card and keypad access, Fire alarm system, Elevators/escalators are the other systems which control by an automation system.
